Frontline Tri-Act is an anti-parasitic solution to be applied to the skin of medium-sized dogs weighing 20 to 40 kg for the treatment of flea and tick infestations and against mosquitoes, sandflies and horse flies. The combination of the two active ingredients of Frontline Tri-Act, fipronil and permethrin, exerts not only a preventive action against flea and/or tick infestations, but also an insecticidal action against sandflies, horse flies and/or mosquitoes, vectors of leishmaniasis.
Dosage, route and method of administration: For topical skin application (spot-on use). The use of the product must be based on the treatment of a confirmed infestation or on a risk of flea and/or tick infestation, where repellent activity (anti-feeding) against sandflies and/or mosquitoes is also necessary and/or horse flies. Repeating treatment may be indicated depending on exposure to ectoparasites. In these cases, the interval between two consecutive treatments should be at least 4 weeks. Warnings for correct administration: choose the pipette of the right size based on the dog's weight. The product must be applied in two places out of the dog's licking range of the application site. These points are at the base of the head and the base of the neck between the shoulder blades. Remove the blisters from the packaging and separate one blister. Remove the pipette by cutting along the dotted line with a pair of scissors or tear open after bending the marked corner. Holding the pipette upright away from your face and body, cut the tip of the pipette with a pair of scissors to open it. Part the fur on the dog's back until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin. Squeeze the pipette, applying approximately half of the contents to the base of the head. To empty the pipette, repeat the application at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades. For an optimal result, make sure the product is applied directly to the skin and not to the fur. Special precautions for storage: Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store in the original blister. Do not store above 25°C.
Do not use this dietary medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after “EXP/EXP”. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Special warnings for each target species: It is possible for individual ticks to attach or for individual sandflies or mosquitoes to bite the dog. For this reason, if particularly unfavorable conditions occur, it is not possible to completely exclude the transmission of pathogens through these arthropods. The product maintains its effectiveness against fleas when treated animals are subjected to occasional immersion in water (for example, swimming, bathing). However, we recommend that you do not bathe or allow dogs to swim within 48 hours of treatment. Avoid subjecting treated dogs to frequent bathing or washing, as these can negatively influence the maintenance of the product's effectiveness. To reduce reinfestations due to the appearance of new fleas, it is recommended to treat all cohabiting dogs. Other animals living in the same house should also be treated with a suitable product. To further contribute to reducing environmental infestation, we recommend, in addition, the use of an environmental treatment aimed at adult fleas and their larval stages. Special precautions for use in animals: In the absence of specific studies, the use of the product is not recommended in dogs under 8 weeks of age, or in dogs weighing less than 2 kg.
Take care to avoid contact of the product with the dog's eyes. It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick itself and to ensure that other animals do not lick the treated area after application. In cats the product can cause potentially fatal convulsions, due to the presence of permethrin. In case of accidental skin exposure, wash the cat with shampoo or soap and promptly seek medical attention. To prevent cats from being accidentally exposed to the product, separate treated dogs from cats until the application site is dry. It is important to ensure that cats do not lick the application site of a dog that has been treated with this product. If exposure of this type occurs, seek medical attention immediately. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals: For dietary use only. This product may cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Therefore, avoid allowing the product to come into contact with the skin and eyes. Do not open the pipette at or near your face. In case of ocular exposure or if the eyes become irritated during administration, wash them immediately with plenty of water. If eye irritation persists, consult a doctor. In case of dermal exposure or if the skin becomes irritated during administration of the product, wash the skin thoroughly immediately with soap and water. If skin irritation persists or recurs, consult a doctor. People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil and/or permethrin should avoid contact with the product. The product is harmful if ingested.
Avoid hand-mouth contact. Do not smoke, drink or eat during application. Wash your hands after use. In case of ingestion, if you feel unwell, rinse your mouth and consult a doctor. Since in case of significant exposure, the excipient N-methylpyrrolidone can induce fetotoxicity and teratogenicity, pregnant women should wear gloves to avoid contact with the product. Treated animals should not be touched until the application site is dry and children should not be allowed to play with treated animals until the application site is dry. It is therefore recommended not to treat animals during the day but to treat them in the early evening hours and not to allow newly treated animals to sleep with their owners, especially children. Store pipettes in the original blister and, after use, empty pipettes should be disposed of immediately in a proper manner to prevent further access. Other precautions: the product may have adverse effects on aquatic organisms. Do not allow treated dogs to enter waterways for 2 days following treatment. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Laboratory studies conducted with fipronil and permethrin have not shown the existence of teratogenic or embryotoxic effects. Studies with this product have not been performed on pregnant or lactating animals.
N-methylpyrrolidone, an excipient present in the dietary medicinal product, has been shown to be teratogenic in laboratory animals repeatedly exposed to high rations. Use only in accordance with the risk/benefit assessment of the responsible dietician. Overfeeding: Safety has been demonstrated with rations up to 5 times the maximum exposure ration in healthy adult dogs and puppies. Transient side effects such as mild neurological disorders, emesis and diarrhea may occur but resolve without treatment within 1-2 days. Animals must always be treated with the correct size pipette corresponding to their body weight.
